Admission at Piedmont Christian Academy:
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in Piedmont Christian Academy. We are delighted that you are considering Piedmont Christian Academy for your child's educational needs.
Piedmont Christian Academy offers both an on-campus program as well as at home study for your child. We use the A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education) Curriculum for both programs. This curriculum takes your child from the fundamentals of kindergarten through high school college level courses. The curriculum is a pace program using 12 PACES (Packets of Accelerated Christian Education) in each subject to complete a year of learning. Piedmont Christian Academy offers 6 subjects per year which include the mandatory Math, English, Social Studies, Science and Word Building. The sixth subject is either a Bible course, Animal Science, Literature, or other electives if the student is at high school level . We have found that this curriculum well equips that student for future learning at the college of their choice.
Accelerated Christian Education:
Accelerated Christian Education is an American educational products company founded in 1970 by Dr. Donald R. Howard which produces the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) school curriculum. According to the curriculum section on its website, the ACE “program is individualized and nongraded.” ACE states that its “core curriculum is an individualized, Biblically-based, character-building curriculum package”. The material for the classes has an emphasis reflecting the Christian ideas and principles of the company, including memorizing Bible passages and learning creationism. The program allows students to advance through high school.
The Accelerated Christian Education curriculum is based on a series of workbooks called PACEs (Packets of Accelerated Christian Education). At the beginning of each PACE is an overview of what the child will be learning, a scripture to memorize, a character trait to strive toward, and a "heads up" on what supplies the student will need. Each subject has 12 PACEs per grade level. The basic subjects of ACE are mathematics, English, science, social studies (also known in the Philippines as Araling Panlipunan, Philippine History, and Asian History) bible, Literature & Creative Writing, and word building (spelling and word usage). Test keys are published for corresponding PACEs. Additional PACEs apply, like Filipino (Philippines only). A new student starting the ACE system is given a placement test, which assesses ability in the five areas with corresponding subjects. The test results then place the student at appropriate levels by subject. Students are required to set daily goals for work completion and are generally expected to finish a given PACE within two to three weeks (depending on the school). Students are given reviews at certain points in a PACE (called "check-ups") and a test at its culmination. The passing score for the test can be from 80% to 90% correct, also depending on the corresponding school. Students who fail must take what measures the school provides to pass the PACE.
With your enrollment, Piedmont Christian Academy offers record keeping of the student's progress through the years. Everything that you will need for your student, whether in school or home study is available .
The following are a few of the reports available to you as a parent:
A Supervisor's Progress Report shows that PACE progress of the student at any given time during the school year.
A Progress Towards Graduation shows the number of Paces necessary to complete the graduation process.
A Transcript shows all of the credits that have been completed towards graduation, or at completing of graduation.
Upon graduation, the student receives the diploma that he/she has been working toward.
Biblically Based Program:
Godly character training is part of the A.C.E. learning experience, and it prepares students to welcome and accept challenges and future opportunities. Sixty character traits, such as kindness, loyalty, and honesty, are taught within the curriculum. Students can observe character development in the true-to-life character strips and then apply the Godly character lessons to their own lives. Scriptural Foundation Challenging and highly effective, the A.C.E. program is an extraordinary educational approach, Biblical in its core, that prepares students for tomorrow’s world while giving them traditional moral values that will last a lifetime. The curriculum conveys Biblical values and concepts considered foundational to meaningful interpersonal relationships and productive learning in such a way as to becomelife-shaping influences. Accelerated Christian Education—a unique program for this time in history—is building Godly citizens and Christian leaders of tomorrow. A.C.E. is your servant to meet the educational needs of today, with the traditional values of yesterday, and the technology of tomorrow. With A.C.E.’s concept of individualized learning, students don’t just get by—they get ahead!
To God be the glory!
